CV Presentation Tips and Advice
TIP 1
USE GRAMMARLY & CHECK
Grammarly is a great tool which we believe is better than the Spelling and Grammar checker in Microsoft Word.
We also advise that you ask a few trusted friends, family or business connections to check through the CV to provide you with constructive feedback (and to check for any errors!)
TIP 2
FONT CHOICE IS IMPORTANT
You should typically choose a font which is clear and considered business appropriate.
Appropriate Fonts: Calibri, Arial, Verdana
Font Size: 11
TIP 3
ADD YOUR LINKEDIN URL
Assuming that you have a LinkedIn profile, it is worth adding that to your CV. The reason is that your LinkedIn subscription should tell you who has viewed your profile, that means if they view your profile, you can try and connect.
TIP 4
USE KEYWORDS IN YOUR CV
Thinking through what keywords are appropriate is an important consideration. You should think through the typical Job Titles and Keywords that a recruiter would use to find you on their database. So, for example, it’s unlikely that they’ll be searching for a Web Guru, but they’re more likely to be running searches for a “Web Developer”.
TIP 5
YOUR POSTCODE SHOULD BE ON YOUR CV
Typically, CV databases will enable recruiters to search for candidates within a certain radius of a postcode. Your CV will be parsed into that database, usually via CV parsing software (although some recruitment agencies will do this manually).
Therefore, if your postcode isn’t on your CV, the likelihood is that you’ll be missing out on calls from recruiters and talent managers who won’t be seeing your CV.
Good luck with your job searching!
